Wednesday Apprentice Night

On Wednesday nights we are closed for retail sales and members' personal work, so we can concentrate on fixing bikes we need for sale or for programs.

Everyone is welcome, we start around 5pm and finish at 9pm. Come and go whenever you like, but as always we ask that you spend at least an hour volunteering. We always have some modest food available, so you don't need to stop off for dinner first — side dishes, or donations, are always welcome.

The spirit of the Apprentice Night is cooperative education, so we pair inexperienced mechanics with experienced ones, and ask the more experienced to include some education in the bike-fixing process. If you are just getting started, you can learn informally and earn volunteer credit at the same time.

If you are taking our Shop Classes, this is a great time to practice what you learn, but you do not need to be a member, or at all experienced in bike mechanics, to help out.

If you are waiting for a bike you have bought to be fixed, you can speed it along by helping out at this time, and you may get to help fix it.
