March 7, 2015 Social Ride: Irish heritage

The theme for the March Social ride will be Irish-American Heritage, so we’ll visit three sites of note on the near west side: St. Malachi’s Church; the new Johnny Kilbane Statue; and Irishtown Bend, and pass by or pause at many others including St. Mary’s on the Flats, The Achill Twinning Rock and Famine Memorial; old McCart Street, the Farnan House, and St. Coleman’s and St. Patrick’s churches.

We are pleased to have guest experts Colleen Day and Margaret Lynch of the Irish American Archives Society along to narrate our stops and answer questions, and Jacob VanSicle of Bike Cleveland to provide updates on new or proposed bike infrastructure projects we’ll encounter along the way, like the W. 65th St. TLCI study, the Lakefront Bikeway/West Shoreway Project, and the Lake Link trail.

The route map is here, with additional links.

OCBC's 2015 Social Ride program is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
